Using Expedias reservation system is easy, or at least average. The problem is if you have a problem not only doesnt Expedia help, they will put you on hold until the call drops, and then not call you back.
Weve done this six times so far with Expedia with the same pattern:
1) Provide necessary information
2) We will call the airlines while I put you on hold. (After the first dropped call I gave them the cell phone number so they could call back if the call got dropped)
3) Very pleasant soothing music, but I have not once had them pick up after I was put on hold. Six tries, never once back from hold. Can you see a pattern here?
Three hours at the airport and Expedia not only did nothing, but jerked my chain for three hours. I still havent left on my trip. The best the airline did for me was charge me more to leave two days later than my ticket says Im supposed to leave.
So the morals of the story are:
1) Dont use Expedia
2) If you do use Expedia and have any trouble with your flight dont expect Expedia to get the airline to do anything.
3) If you do use Expedia make sure that it is non-stop.
4) If you do use Expedia and book a multi-stop flight make sure it is the same airline that flies both legs. (They point at each other and say that they cant do anything but the other guy can).
The back ground on this is Air Canada canceled a flight from Boston to Montreal that was the first leg of a trip to Athens Greece. Now, Boston isnt that far from Montreal and my wife and father-in-law were there three hours ahead of time and there was a two hour layover. Still Air Canada couldnt find a single flight that would arrive in time. This after sending all of us to United (the tickets were booked under United for some bazaar reason that only Expedia knows certainly we had nothing to do with that decision).
Anyway, this is our first and last time with Expedia.
