Re: the author's thoughts (Reply to this comment)

Been out of town without computer access since I published this...thanks for all the comments. And now the individual replies...
Drew, since I already know you have good taste, I'll forgive you liking that Aerosmith tune. But that's your only leeway. :)
Shelly, Sheryl Crow almost made this list - I hated her version as well, but then again, I'm not all that keen on Axl's version either.
Tim, thanks. The first time I heard MM's version of this song I cringed even more than I had the first time I heard MM.
DrFaustus, you're right, the video does somewhat redeem the song. I almost didn't include Weird Al at all, as his songs are parodies and not technically covers, but I felt it had to be said. Maybe I should have added "Living With A Hernia" as well, though.
And that "Live And Let Die" story is too much - I damn near spit my coke all over the keyboard when I read it.
Tom, thanks. Glad to see people out there with taste.
dbcint, if I had known she covered that song, I'd have included it. I've never heard it but consider it included now just on general principle.

Avril Lavigne's cover of Knocking On Heaven's Door. Aside from that, your list seems fairly thorough.

Shatner singing, evil just...evil.
I think i agree with everyone of your choices especially the 'sweet dreams' and 'behind blue eyes' ones.
Thanks,

You've certainly got some rotten tomatoes in your list here (although I felt that the video for Weird Al's Bedrock Anthem more than made up for the questionable quality of the song).
I remember back I college, I went out to a record store to pick up a new live album from Paul McCartney. I happened to overhear some kids looking at it and commenting "I can't believe Axl Rose let him cover Live and Let Die." It took all my effort to resist walking over to the kid and slapping him hard. (Although the fact that he looked pretty tough and easily could have monkey-stomped all over me in retribution and I would never have a chance to effectively fight back was also a factor...)

Whew, I love the way you skewered MM's cover of "Sweet Dreams"! I always thought the original was kinda overplayed for as old of a song as it was, but that remake sure didn't make it any more bearable. Anaesthesia is right!
See ya

I _like_ Aerosmith's version of "Remember"! Still, the rest of these seem to my ears to be justifiable entries, so I'll forgive you. ;-) Nice work.
