The Bottom Line Always buy from them when you can, you can't go wrong.

I'm your average gadget junkie. I buy at least one new nice toy every six months, always thinking that this one will be the one that I *really* use a lot, enough to justify the expense yada yada - well, I usually do get a lot out of whatever I buy, so I like to buy a lot for what I pay. I don't mean just the product at the cheapest price, but rather the assurance that what I'll get will be there on time, it'll work, the price will be at least better than anywhere else I can find locally, and that the service after the sale will always be there...
Enter B&H. I haven't had a bad experience from them yet, and i've now bought an SLR body and (many) lenses, a digital camera, and a brand new TRV30 miniDV camcorder. All three came on time, even earlier than expected in two cases. All three were good prices (not the cheapest, but read some of the reviews on the bottom priced shops, they're going to hose you trust me). Most of all, all three times I dealt with someone that gave me REAL advice without worrying about which was the more expensive option.
Examples:
With this latest purchase of a TRV i knew i was going to drop some cash on the camera and the few accessories I wanted. I knew what I wanted, went through the list, and first off the sales person asked if I needed any advice on the camera itself. I thought "great he's going to upsell me to a 3CCD model or something" and he actually suggested the PC110 ($50 less) if I wanted more compact or the 730 Digital8 model for savings... I asked him pointedly if he was going to make more money off of those models and he said no, just that Sony always has higher prices for the new models, and lower for the old (ala intel) and you can get a better deal on the n-1 model... not sure if i believe him, but that's the weakest of the examples...
Second I had to order some tapes - I knew that there were CM types (chip memory) but I didn't think i needed them. I was going to order one or two just in case, and I asked him for advice. They're double the money and i'm sure they don't cost double, so it'd have behooved him to suggest I got the CM tapes. He told me the quality is no different, and unless i'm doing a lot of "in the field" editing i wouldn't use the memory really. I mentioned that I wanted to do some NLE (non-linear editing) in house, and he said that I'd be fine with the lesser expensive tapes.
Both times, i felt like they were honest. That's something you want in a photo/video store.
After purchasing from sales you go to confirmation and they make sure that your credit gets approved and they catch any errors in the address. Its important to note that this isn't done anywhere else, and caught my error in my address which assuredly would have messed up me getting my new toy :) I was grateful.
Overall, you can't beat their information, stock, and prices without going to a place that will 'bait and switch' you everytime. Trust me, B&H is one of the good guys out there.
