I guess it’s CarParts.com bashing time. I see two other reviews about Carparts.com here with one and two stars. I give CarParts.com one star and here is why...
I needed parts for my car – a new gas tank cap and windshield wipers. Since I saw a coupon online that would give me discount at CarParts.com, I decided to give it a try.
Carparts allows you to enter your car (make, model, etc.) and then shows you the list of parts that [supposedly] fit your car. I selected 1988 Volvo 740GLE and found both the gas cap and windshield wipers. The ordering process was quite simple and parts were relatively inexpensive.
Unfortunately, it took forever to get the ordered parts and when they finally arrived, the windshield wipers were way too small. When I ordered them, I thought that since they were listed as fitting my car, they would be the right size.
So I got stuck with a pair of windshield wipers that were too small. I emailed their customer service. No reply. After several more emails (never to be replied) I emailed that I will contact my credit card company and dispute charges. Several days later they credited my credit card. But I never got any emails from them.
Several days ago I needed to replace an air filter in my second car – Mitsubishi Galant. I went to carparts.com and Kragen.com. The filter was several dollars cheaper at Kragen and I could pick it up at the store immediately. I went to the store and 3 minutes later had the filter. No waiting, no problems with the wrong size.
Although this review is hardly comprehensive and my own experience is no guarantee the same will happen to you, I think there is a significant chance it will. Other reviews here indicate slow order fulfillment times and poor customer service.
Bottom Line
Avoid CarParts.com. The order fulfillment is slow there and customer service is poor. And don’t rely on their database – you can end up with a part for the wrong car if you do.
