| trafton's Full Review: Zone Alarm |
ZoneAlarm came into my life after an incident involving a little-known but nasty hacking program called HackHidden. ZoneAlarm prevented the program from running, ushered me to it, and has never let me down since. Despite lacking such features as member profiling, logging, and Trojan Horse lists (the Pro version includes Logging but lacks the other two), ZoneAlarm works increadibly well and is ample protection against the Internet's meanies. Together with Norton AntiVirus, this Internet Firewall is part of the dynamic duo of Internet safety. The Pro version ($30 direct) is more targeted towards business users and the paranoid. The free version, in all of it's glory, is an amazing firewall despite its lackings. I feel safe at night under the close protection of ZA. And one final note: ZA sometimes, but not often, stops Internet access on some machines (I'm not talking about the lock). If this happens, find somewhere to download an older version as my experiance is that this typically cures it.
