Thanks! I was going to wait a few days to see it, but we decided to just go last night, which was predictably quite crowded - in fact, the show we wanted was sold out and we had to wait until the next showing, but it was only half an hour later, and it took us half that time to get popcorn. Didn't notice anyone in costume, but it was quite a lively audience. The previews were great too - there are some really intriguing movies coming up!
Anyway, I was sorry to see St. Mungo's left out entirely; maybe, as you say, it would have been in included if Branagh had agreed to a cameo. I wondered about Cleese, too; perhaps he was approached but declined because his part would have been so small. It was important, though, and I wonder if Rowling might do something rather interesting with him in the last book...
Definitely was happy to see Fred and George well into the mix. Though I should have expected it, they practically gave me heart failure both times they popped into the scene out of nowhere... :D

Wonderful! (Reply to this comment)

I gave up trying to avoid reading reviews, even though I don't know for sure when I'll see the film. After all, I know the story inside-out, so it's not like there can be major spoilers. And I'm always curious to read how viewers who know the books well, as I know you do!, think the film version was handled.
So I've read several reviews over the past couple of days (although your's is the first I've read here) and your's was by far the most thorough and interesting. Kudos!
Glad to hear Fred and George got good screen time. Did St. Mungo's get cut entirely? I wonder if that's because they couldn't get Branagh for a Lockhart cameo...
