The Bottom Line Come on, you know you want to share some of yourself with us...:-)
.. Two years (and one day) ago I published "The First Great user-name 'Comment-Off' !!" A simple community-building idea. Rather than the stress of choosing a product, using it, writing the dang review, making sure it was long enough), and worrying about its reception after hitting the [Publish] button I thought perhaps something simpler might be effective. A 'comment-off'. No need to get all flummoxed. Just a simple comment added to this essay telling your fellow members about your user name. The previous 'comment-off' has collected more than 140 comments, most of them actually 'on-topic'. I bring the same idea to you tonight. - Yes, it is derivative. - Yes, it has been done before. - Yes, I am trying to 'milk' a good idea. - Yes, you can rate this essay however you like. - No, I won't be offended. I am sure there are many new users to the site since I last did this. I am sure many of these new (and hopefully some of the older members, whether you have already 'done' the other or not) members would like to share just a bit of their Epinions persona by talking about their user-name and how they came to choose it. The first 'Comment-Off' asked several questions. I've repeated just a couple of them here: • How did you choose your user-name? • How much thought did you give to choosing it? • Did you pick a good name or a bad name? • Would you make the same choice again? • Are there user-names that make you envious? • Are there user-names that make you smile? • . . .or make you wonder? • Has your user-name helped or hindered your 'time' here? OK, I repeated most of them, so 'NH' me! To repeat my warning of the original: ----BEGIN USER ALERT !!---- Please, lets keep it positive! If you want to trash a user-name...make sure it is your user-name !! ----END USER ALERT---- Think of it as a 'write-off' without all the pressure !! Hey, you already got a 'product'! You already know all about your 'product', more than anyone else! All you have to do is click that little "write your own comment link over there to the right...come on do it...learn something new, ...have some fun, ...don't take yourself sooooooo seriously...:-) And don't rate without commenting...!! ...tom...
