The Bottom Line: it is quite suitable for treavelling, light durable and thin. but Toshiba need to improve the battery

hi, everyone:

I've tried many different notebooks, from Tecras, to HP Compaqs to Dells. I have to say the 7140CT is the best perfoprmance/price investment overall.

The things I like most is its weight and thinness. you know, before this laptop, I have a HP omniBook XE2 which is much cheaper than this one and almost double the wightness and thichness of this one. you know, when you treavel, even one kg is a big thing on your shoulders.since it is so thin and so light, it is super easy just to carry around. And it is robust. since I buy(jan 2000), it is never crashed so that to go to the support of Toshiba.

and they have a enhanced view pleasures brought by the 13.3in screen it is big, to me. And they have full size keyboard unlike other 1" portables

Overall, they have about the right set of what you need in terms of functions if you are mainly doing email. they assume that everything can be downloaded from the net. and you can access the web when you get this laptop. So they make floopy disk drive external, but why lug a floppy drive around when you hardly use the floppy drive.

However, they doesn't come with a CD-Rom, so if you want install software from Cd(such as windows 2000) or playing games from CD, you need to Consider again if you want to buy this machine. And the serial port, parallel port and ps/2 is on a 1lb port expander. so if you want connect this laptop to a printer, you have to take this extend bar with u.

they have a 56K modem, but I do think if you want to install software from the web, then you'd better get a PCMIA network card or wireless card.

Another thing is its memory, if you want to install windows 2000, you'd better double or triple the memory. My laptop runs windows 2000 proply with 192M. And you can have at most 256M memory, this isn't so pleased to me because I want to add more.

Also, its battery is the worst, Mine can only support a hour and a half not like they say 2 hours. so conside it if you want to treavel long distance with it.
