Pros: Offers a wide variety of travel experiences all over the world
Cons: I have neither enough time or money to travel as much as I want
The Bottom Line: I have used Adventure Center twice and will be using them again this year. I wouldn't keep going with them if I wasn't having fun.

| azielinski's Full Review: Adventure Center |
It was pure luck that I stumbled across Adventure Center. In 1998 I was consumed with a burning desire to go to Morocco. I don't know why I felt I needed to go that year, but I did and I never question these impulses as they always turn out to be a good thing. Since I was going to be going by myself, I decided that I would probably enjoy myself more (and find out more about the country) if I went with a group.
I looked at a lot of different options and rejected them as too expensive, not working with my schedule or not having a range of lots of different people. In the course of all this internet research I came upon Adventure Center. Their trip was priced for my budget, worked with the time of year I could travel and was designed as an "adventure holiday" without being a forced march. After some more research I signed up and had a fabulous time.
This year I am going on my third trip through Adventure Center, so you can probably guess that I like it but let me tell you a bit more about them.
Adventure Center can be found at www.adventurecenter.com. It is part of the Far & Wide Company. (It was not always a Far & Wide company.) If you look at the web site you will see that Adventure Center also has several other travel providers under their banner. Some of these companies specialize in certain regions of the world others have a broader range. The travel providers listed at Adventure Center are:
Amadalam
Antartica
Explore
Dragoman
G.A.P. Adventures
Guerba
Intrepid
Karibu
Sundowners
I have only traveled with Explore so I can only recommend them. (Although some of the people I have met on Explore trips have also traveled on Dragoman and Guerba trips and they recommended them very highly.)
The Explore trips I have taken are usually about two weeks in length. I have traveled to Morocco and Egypt and during those two weeks I have had the opportunity to see quite a bit of the country, learn about the culture and the arts of the country and to meet some new people. My first trip I traveled by myself but shared a room with someone. We became such friends that we now travel together but Explore makes no promises about that sort of thing.
Accomodations with Explore range from four star hotels to small local hotels. The places we have stayed have always been clean and safe but because they aren't chain hotels or luxury resorts, they are closer to the local hot spots.
Costs include accomodations, transportation, in country, the tour leader, breakfast and some meals as well as the planned trips (ex. donkey ride to the Valley of the Kings in Egypt). Some meals are not included and optional activities are, of course, optional and require more money. Prices for the trips I have taken have been in the $575 - $680 range (you will have to adjust for yearly inflation). Air fare to your destination is not included but the people at Adventure Center can help you with that and do get really good prices.
Trips with Explore involve some transportation on things like buses and trains and some on things like donkeys and camels. There is also some walking involved so it that is difficult for you - check with the person you speak to at Adventure Center.
Adventure Center is also based in several countries so you can expect to be traveling with people from the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand (this is just a sample of nationalities I have met so far).
If you are looking for a group travel experience that is reasonably priced, a bit off the beaten path, and combines art and history with being outdoors - check out Adventure Center.
