Pros: Fast, stable, cheap
Cons: I wouldnt want the sound card to be used
The Bottom Line: Its a stable fast setup, with jumperfree Overclock. The bios has too many options to list

| mrboom's Full Review: Asus A7V |
This board is a pleasure to work with. I am using the a7v133, which is very simalar, only a little newer. Ultra 100 right on it (two slots) as well as ultra 66. Plenty of slots, a motherboard processor fan built in, (that puppy runs 80 degrees all the time, according to the asus probe. We are talking mobo processor here, not the cpu) raid, everything. (UPDATE) Everything that the a7v133 has is on the a7v. In fact, the only difference is the bios options, so I feel comfortable in rating in this catergory. The main difference is that in overclocking the a7v only lets you oc the FSB to 133, and not to 166(UPDATE)
It also features jumperfree overclocking in the bios, which to me is the best thing since sliced bread. No need to even open the case on this one, just restart, hit the DEL key, and away you go. It also has the ability to disable the onboard soundcard (thank god, I hate integration). The system is farily stable at higher clock speeds, and I especailly like how the mobo offers a FSB overclock
The ultra 100 is simply super fast. I wasnt using it until I purchased my 60 gig maxtor, and it made all the difference. File transfers are shorter, and the system opens programs faster due to the transfer rate. The motherboard fan is also a nice touch, as some mobos dont feature that. A overheated mobo is just as bad as a overheated processor.
I simply cannot find a real problem with this card, other than that the integtrated soundcard sucks, if you buy this, at least get a seperate sound card. The onboard one whines and has static. (X-gamer 5.1 is a good choice)
Other than this small problem, which few will use anyway, this mobo rocks. I only wish it was DDR. (which the a7m266 does. Once again, it is virtually the same board with mods to make it ddr)
