Double Bait-and-switch; non-existent pickup location and overcharged

Reserved and confirmed a car for 3 days out of Chartres France. Chose AVIS because they have a "PICK-UP" location at the Chartres Gare (train station). We took train from Paris, got to the station with luggage, and NO AVIS. Called them to be told they were no longer located at the train station, and we would have to hire a taxi at our own expense to get to their edge-of-town location (some 4 miles away.) Once there they argued that even though my confirmation papers said the 3 day rental would cost $302 USD, they charged my credit card 302 Euros ($427 USD). We were being held hostage! - had no idea where we were, they spoke little or no English, and even though our French was decent, we had no choice but to become victims of the DOUBLE bait-and-switch. Returning the car 3 days later was very difficult as they provided no map to their location, and we again had to pay taxi fare back to the train station. Contacted AVIS customer service back in the US when we returned from vacation to dispute overcharge AND taxi fares to be told their "computerized records" indicated that the confirmed reservation cost was actually 395 Euros or about $537 for the 3 day rental. So far, after sending AVIS customer service several faxes with credit card statements, taxi receipts, and their own confirmation quote, AVIS is now silent. Last words from AVIS "We'll call you."

Getting off a train in a foreign country while dragging luggage and expecting to find the promised PICK-UP location but finding none.... No map... overcharged... call your own taxi.... provide no shuttle... THIS ISN'T STRESS!!!!
