| debangor's Full Review: General Reviews of Cellular One Customer Service |
I recently switched from Verizon to Cellular One after being fed up with the customer service reps in the main office. I live near the Canadian border, and every month used to have to call to have Canadian roaming charges removed from my bill (Canadian towers are not regulated as American towers are by the FCC, and are much stronger). The local Radio Shack where I signed up for Verizon cellphone service didn't seem to have people who knew much about the phone service. I got tired of calling each month and having to explain why I needed my bill to be examined.
I then tried Cellular One and was told by the local customer sales rep that I wouldn't pick up as many roaming signals with their service, and if I did, she would take care of them for me. I did get mostly roaming charges on calls made in my home area, and she gave me another phone to try out. The other phone, a dual-mode Nokia 6120, can be programmed by me to only allow home towers. Sometimes I still pick up roaming charges when I have not programmed it to block them, but she understands the geographic area and deletes them without question. There have even been times when she has looked up both my husband and my accounts and called us herself to tell us what we should be paying. I like having someone who I feel is looking out for me, and will stay with Cellular One because of her.
When I called the main office to inquire about roaming charges, I received mixed messages. Sometimes I was told that they would take them off my bill; sometimes I was told that they would be taken off my bill for a certain amount of time; and other times I was told that I would be responsible for any roaming charges made and that I was stuck until my contract expired. Needless to say, I will continue working with the local sales rep.
I am rating Cellular One as above average due to the fact that there is a great sales rep who works for them. If it weren't for her, I would probably rate it as below average.
