Pros:Very Durable, Long Life Battery, Great Signal, Camera, Color Screen, Speakerphone, Good Design
Cons:Bulky when you have an Extended Battery, only holds 60 pictures.
The Bottom Line: This phone is great for anyone, especially people in low service areas, travelers, texters, gamers, and people who just love to talk.
I bought my Lg Vx6100 in July of 2005. This phone has passed my expectations in a cell phone. My phone has always gotten great service where ever i go. Compared to other Verizon phones, mine usually has better service. The lg vx6100 is a tri-mode phone, so it is able to do Digital/PCS/Analog. Although many people don't like analog because it is sometimes staticky, when you are in the middle of no-where, and all that you have is analog service, I'm glad that I can make my call.
As far as battery life goes, with my standard battery, I usually got about 3 hours and 45 minutes talk time in digital service, and about 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours talk time in Analog service. With the standard battery, my phone usually lasts about 6-7 days standby on digital, and about 3 days on Analog. With my extended battery (1700 mAh) I could usually get about 4.5 hours talk time out of my phone when I wasn't at my house, however, when I am at home, I can usually pull about 7 hours STRAIGHT TALK TIME out of my phone. With the extended battery, my phone usually lasts about 10-12 days off the charger if I don't talk on it. The phone usually takes about 3 hours to charge from fully dead to full charge on the Standard battery, and about 4 hours from fully dead to full charge on the extended battery.
I am very satisfied with the durability of this phone. Although it tends to scratch if you drop it on pavement, what phone doesn't? I am personally a very clumsy person, and this phone has lasted tons of drops and falls down the stairs, and in the driveway. I actually fell on the ice in BestBuy's parking lot, and my phone literally went 20 feet across the pavement--it was still in the call when i recovered my phone (only 2 small scratches). I also dropped the phone in the sink one time as I was washing my hands. It went right under the water and turned off. I quickly dried it off, turned it back on, and continued my conversation again.
One feature about this phone that I like, although most people don't, is the outside screen. The outside screen is black and white. Although most people don't find that appealing, I do because the outside screen never turns off, so when I'm sitting at work, I don't have to reach over and turn on the outside screen every time I want to check the time.
I absolutely love the idea of a camera in my phone. The only con's about the camera is that the phone can only hold 60 pictures. I bought a data cable for my phone because of how many pictures I have taken with the phone. I just had my computer do a count on how many pictures I have taken with the phone, and it rings up to 5,081 pictures taken. Although the pictures are only 640 by 480, they are still good enough to use on Christmas Cards, Any kind of greeting card, or a 4 by 6 normal picture.
If you happen to get the data cable for this phone, you are able to make custom ringtones on BitPim and send them to your phone. (This is also how I get my pictures off my phone). The phone is able to hold 30 custom ringtones, and that covers all of the main callers on my cell phone. Also, the address book in the lg vx6100 holds 999 Contacts.
The Speakerphone works like any other speakerphone. It is loud, and it plays all of my ringtones. It doesn't echo or squeal when I use it, and usually people can't even tell that I'm using my speaker phone.
As for Get-It-Now, which includes games, and other programs, I have used it quite frequently. I downloaded a weather program to check my live radar, and get weather forecasts, and it works great. Some of my game favorites on the phone (you have to download them) are games such as Tetris, Bejeweled, Diner Dash, Doom, Etc.
The phone works great for text messaging and picture messaging. I am able to take pictures with the phone closed by holding down the right-side button on the phone, and it will give me a self-portrait in black-and-white. The phone sends and receives text and picture messaging but no video messaging.
This phone has lasted me 2 years, and I have used it to it's fullest. I've already used up one battery, and had to get a second one, It's been talked on for 10 hours straight before, It's been talked on from Detroit, Michigan all the way to Huntsville, Alabama. It's traveled through the mountains and all, and held service the whole way, racking up 350 hours of extended network throughout it's 2 years of service, taken pictures of everything there is, and played hours and hours of tetris. I've managed to put 1,800 hours on this phone, and it's still going strong, even when I do retire this phone, I will still keep it. It's too good of a phone to get rid of, especially if my new one isn't as durable as this one. If you have any questions, please e-mail me at Cardomainlover1975@yahoo.com
