Excellent review of the concert and R30 set list. I was able to see them on Wednesday night (8/18/04) at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. With this concert (and the following night) being the last two shows of the R30 US tour ... they were just as superb as described in the Nashville review. They were very tight and played with heart.

... the focus is sharp in the city.

Great Rush 2004 Review (Reply to this comment)

Thanks for the Nashville opening leg review. I've been looking for such a review for a while now hoping to get a glimpse of the song list and new antics the band has in store for us. Aug. 22nd will be the date in Toronto the Power Trio graces us with their musical expertise that no musicians on the face of this planet has ever done with such marvel. Although somewhat disappointed with certain songs returning to this tour, yet again, (Red Sector A, Dreamline, Roll the Bones) that disappointment was erased by the emergence of Xanadu, Red Barchetta and the cool opening Medley. I'm very excited about the strong focus on the Feedback disc and the selection of cover tunes. I can do without Subdivisions but I'm assuming that they feel there are fans that want to hear this tune rather than long overdue tracks such as Mission, Fly By Night or Lakeside Park just to name a few.

Regardless, the best power trio ever to grace this planet will not disappoint as they never have and I look forward to another perfectly executed concert that only today's recording acts (to name hundreds) can only dream about.

sounds like an excellent show - I've got to try to get tickets for the Denver show if I can swing it!

Thanks for the review!

I was just reminiscing with a friend about favorite bands and songs that you had to turn up when they came on the radio. Rush and Tom Sawyer was one of the only things we both agreed upon.

Thanks for sharing,
Scott

I wasn't ever a huge Rush fan, but friends in high school were. Sheesh, between your review and the fact that The B-52s are playing a CASINO I might as well go sit in the rocker now!

Great review. :)
