but the review left me with some questions like what systems it works with, the minimum specs required for it to run, whether it requires a specific browser to run, how it reacts to getting disconnected in the middle of a scan, etc.

I can see what you mean, but I haven't bought antivirus software for quite a while. Early it's been mostly due to the memory issues on my laptop, later... I don't know, I just haven't bought it:-)
Am I worried about the intrusion and security? You bet.
Am I opening any weird attachments from weird people I don't know or download the software from some warez site? Nope.
Do I still occasionally need to check the hard drive for the vires? Definitely.
Therefore, there is no real need for the real antivirus, and then worrying about updating it. This site seems to be what's needed, just my 2 cents:-)

...I’d like to say that your review of this site is very good.
“any Internet user worried about security and virus protection” would indeed purchase a program to prevent infection in the first place. Using this site as an AV scanner is like getting a flu shot after getting the flu! ;)
While effective, I would only recommend this site in an emergency, not as a sole means of virus protection.
