The quality of the blinds has declined and customer service is awful

I have purchased many American Blinds over the years but feel the quality has really declined recently. The blinds we have ordered within the past year will not lock in place and the slats do not "stay put. I have never had a good experience with their customer service and feel whoever takes the call makes promises but that is the end of the service. We've had a problem with cords breaking and last fall I called customer service as one of the breaks was too "high up" to fix ourselves. I should have gone to a local blind store. However, the blinds were a dark wood and I wondered if the cords were specially dyed to match. I called customer service and was told the repair department would call me within three days. After a week and no call, I called again. There was no record of my first call. Again there was no call and I called again- no record. After a another couple of calls, I received an e-mail saying my order was on the way. When nothing arrived, I called again and asked to speak with a supervisor. She had no record of any calls from me. She checked with repair and said they do not send out cords and the whole blind would have to be sent in - at my expense. After two months of getting the run-around, I was not about to send off a bedroom blind. I'm sure I would never see the blind again and no one would have any record of anything. I contacted the Better Business Bureau - online- and was assigned to some BBB in Michigan. I said all I wanted was a cord and please don't suggest that the answer was to send in the blind. After weeks of hearing nothing from BBB, I called them and talked to a really "snotty" woman who said they had e-mailed me with the resolution - mail in the blind. I never received an e-mail so BBB is worthless. After all of the aggrevation, I purchased a card at a local store and fixed it myself. The bottom line is that I will never order from American again.
