Value safes.com is an Internet safe vendor from Florida. After considerable research I decided to purchase one of their models.
I called them twice and had a pleasant conversation with a sales person that explained the different features of the safe and how they would impact ( or not) the overall protection level being offered. I was favorably impressed by the frankness of the answers I got.So far, so good.
I purchased a model 874C safe. It has so many cost saving features that it makes me wonder how it could actually protect me from burglars. The welded plates seem poorly done. There are bolts at only one side of the door. The bolts look impressive in the pictures until you realize that they are totally hollow pieces of metal.
To make matters worse they sent me the wrong model safe ( a cheaper one without a drill resistant hard plate) and refuse to replace it.Unlike a regular products that can be shipped back to the seller, a 291 lb safe can not, as the return freight when purchased a a regular folk like me comes out to a small fortune.
As it would turn out the company omits from their advertising that basically what they sell are cheap Korean imports made of Asian market quality steel. The safes have their manufacturer's label ( COBALT ) removed before they are photographed for the website.
My payment was made with my debit card and that means that, unlike a credit card, I have little or no chance of reversing the charges.Currently I am waiting on a formal Better Business Bureau complaint filed against them.I will keep you posted but in the mean time please allow me to suggest that you do not fall pray to the same scheme that I did.
