Yes, the famous Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber was featured prominently in Platoon, which is where I first heard it. Such a melancholic, heart-rending theme....

who served in Vietnam, said Platoon was a realistic portrayal. It was one of my favorite movies of that time. I liked he music they used. I can't remember for sure, but I think it was Barber's Adagio for Strings. Very appropriate, whatever it was.

I can't argue about the choices on your list all great choices, although I would put Platoon ahead of Three Kings. Great List
