| CyndiCM's Full Review: Texas Instruments Explorer Plus |
The Texas Instruments Explorer Plus has been doing math in my home for 5 years now, and it is still working like it's brand new.
Since this calculator is solar powered, there are no batteries to worry about changing.
The keys on this calculator are a decent size, no fumbling around with tiny buttons. The keys are divided into four different colors. They are blue, green, white and yellow. The blue keys are the advanced functions like : RCL CE/C STO. The green keys are for the basic functions like : + - =. The white are the number keys and the decimal key. The one yellow key is for the second function key.
The body of the calculator is light gray in color. There is a matching cover that you can slide onto the back of the calculator when you are using it. This keeps the cover from being lost. Also in the cover is a handy quick reference card that has instructions for the most often used aspects of the calculator. This way you don't have to take the instruction book with you.
With multiple functions that make most every math problem child's play this calculator is easy to learn to use. You can do basic arithmetic such as, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. As well as integer division, percentages, powers and roots, logarithms, trigonometry, angle-Units and conversions, fractions, combinations, permutations, factorials, and random values . There is also the ability to store information in the memory, and you can do statistical analysis of one-variable information.
Using this calculator is easy, and if you do have any problems you can just refer to the guidebook that comes with it. In this book you will find step by step instruction that show both text and numerals. This makes the information more understandable to me.
A decent sized calculator that fits neatly into your pocket or purse. The calculator measures just over 5 inches in length, is a bit over 2 inches in width, and is a mere 1/4 inch thick. Lightweight, only a few ounces, you will not have a problem carrying this multi-functional calculator around.
I use the Texas Instruments Explorer Plus when I grocery shop. I find it very useful with price comparisons when the products are different sizes. Since it has the memory capability, I am able to keep track of my grocery total and still figure other information. I like to know that I am getting the most for my money. With this calculator I believe that you are, I know that I did.
If your calculator needs serviced you can simply call customer support toll-free at: 1-800-TI-CARES (1-800-842-2737) or you can e-mail them at ti-cares@ti.com A one-year limited warranty comes standard with this calculator.
