One of the best concert reviews I have read on this site. For a moment I felt I was actually there.

I stand corrected - I never knew about that show. 800 people? That really must have been something special. Thanks for the comment - I assume your username is no coincidence!

Dylan's most intimate gig (Reply to this comment)
by bobfan
Thanks for the review, certainly makes you want to rush out and see the man in concert.
But I must take issue with the statement that this was his most intimate show for 15 years.
My own 'best show' was Dylan at the Mercury Lounge in Melbourne (Australia) in 1998, which held only 800 folk all squashed in like sardines. It was absolutely unforgettable, he sure has something special as performing artist.

Springsteen is one artist that I'd love to catch live, but have never had the chance. I can well imagine he puts on a pretty impressive show.
Hmm, I think sitting exams before attending gigs is a bit extreme! But I know what you mean, the right crowd in the right setting makes all the difference.
Thanks

Yes, when he puts his mind to it, he's unbeatable on stage. I saw him back in 98 doing a double header with Van Morrison, and I noticed that while Morrison's show was excellent, it was still eclipsed by Dylan.
Thanks for the comment, much appreciated.

Your review brought back memories of a Springsteen concert I went to in Philadelphia at the Spectrum on his reunion tour. He was milking Spirit in the Night for all it was worth and the crowd must have thought he was dragging it out too much, because they finished the verse for him. He just stood there shaking his head and smiling. It's great to be at a concert with true fans. I wouldn't be opposed to having short exams before buying tickets to certain concerts to ensure an awesome show. Great review, by the way.

I also saw Bob ....... (Reply to this comment)

... in a perhaps nearly equally inspiring brilliant performance in '98 at the Gorge at George (Washington) outdoors along the river (Columbia) which was an absolute landmark out of the many gigs I too have seen and heard since the Stones in 1966. His set that night all but completely overwhelmed those by two other near equal favourites (Joni Mitchell & Van Morrison) at the same concert
Your review of the Barrowsland concert setting/performance is by far among the best read here (epinions). Especially well done. .. Michael (Rrrrealtime)
