| saras_mommy's Full Review: Mr. Clean Magic Eraser |
I know there are 200+ reviews here, so the odds of this one getting much press are low, however, I felt I had to add my opinion here.
First, Ill start with the positives! I really do LOVE the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers!! I have a rather porous countertop and it stains easily. Tea, red sauce, kids drinks all have left rings on my counter in which I have needed to use Soft Scrub on. (nothing against the soft scrub I love it, just dont want to over- bleach this counter! Plus, its messy, and takes time, rinsing blah, blah
) I love that I can just whip out my Magic Eraser and wipe away whatever mess has soaked into my counter with little to no effort. This makes me very happy! This is an extremely efficient product for heavy and light duty cleaning and I use these sponges daily.
I particularly like to use them in my tub where the film tends to build up fast
(my husband works in a really dirty steel plant much yuckies!!) These erasers literally wipe away with little effort what would take me probably 30 minutes to tackle with Soft Scrub or Comet (again, nothing against those brands! They serve their purposes as well!) The Eraser is extremely efficient when it comes to these jobs.
I also feel that I got a good value for my money. I buy an 8 pack at Sams club for under $8 so that, in my opinion, is a great value for less than a dollar per sponge.
Heres what I dont like
As many other reviews mention these sponges do not last long at all. For basic, light duty wipe-ups, youll get your moneys worth (although, truly begins to look dingy after only a couple of uses and you really dont want it hanging around anyway!) However, when doing a big job like the tub, for instance its a one-time deal. This sponge falls apart so fast, and does so in large chunks as well.
Now, falling apart, I can deal with Ill just get more. Heres my concern: these sponges contain dangerous and quite hazardous materials so much so that when my husband unknowingly used on to wipe some dirt off of his arm, he was left with a pretty nasty red mark a chemical burn. If this sponge had this effect on a 35 year old man one who works in a steel plant around hazardous materials all day long, mind you imagine what it would do to a small child who mistakes this for something that can be brought in the bath, or use on their faces.
Now, I understand that I am fully responsible for where I store these and any other hazardous cleaning materials in my home I know this however I just wanted to explain that this is not your everyday household cleaning sponge it should be stored with and treated as though it were as dangerous as floor cleaner or bleach! Incidentally, there is a warning stating that such abrasions can occur if used on skin.
