Pros: Five total gms of fiber per dose, container has 48 doses.
Cons: After taste, still somewhat thick, doesn't mix completely.
The Bottom Line: Berry Flavor is okay. Still has more thickness then I like. Leaves me feeling gassy and bloated.

| disartain's Full Review: Metamucil Berry Burst! Sugar Free Powder |
Metamucil, when I hear the word it brings up visions of thick bland looking gunk. Hardly the thing I would want to drink down. I tried Metamucil years ago and after that first glass, I could never drink it again.
Since I have aged {oh I hate that word aged} I find that I need something everyday to help with my fiber intake.
Recently I got the chance to try a new type of Metamucil I have tried everything else and the new fiber products have come a long way so I took the leap of faith and tried the new and much improved Metamucil Berry Burst
I usually list the pros and cons about now but this time I am giving my experience first and that will explain the pros and cons I have listed.
Experience
I read the directions on the container and then I took one rounded teaspoon and added it to 8 oz of water. I stirred the concoction with a small whisk and looked at it swirling around in the glass. It made a Raspberry colored drink and it did not look thick at all. The taste and smell of the drink in the glass looked nice.
Here goes I told my stomach, and began to drink the glass of Metamucil Berry Burst. There was a slight amount of thickness not much but enough to let me know what I was drinking. I drank it as quickly as I could just in case it began to thicken more it didnt. I followed the glass I drank with another glass of water.
The product had an aftertaste that lasted for awhile after I drank it. I am sure if anyone has used products with Aspartame you know the taste I am talking about.
I noticed that not all of the powder had dissolved in the bottom of the glass. There was a small amount even after all the stirring I did.
The Metamucil Berry Burst was three times better then the original as far as thickness and taste.
The main ingredient in Metamucil Berry Burst is 100% Psyllium Fiber. Fiber is one of the things our bodies need to keep it healthy. Only a few people get the amount of fiber needed in our daily diets 35gm. Taking a fiber supplement is one way to keep our colons healthy and guard against constipation. Metamucil Berry Burst is a fiber/laxative. I have found through experience that it usually takes a couple of days to get regulated as far as the laxative part goes.
This product also gave me a lot of gas which is uncomfortable and embarrassing to say the least.
The instructions say to take a rounded teaspoon in 8 oz water three times a day. I couldnt drink three glasses of this a day, I tried but I have to follow the Metamucil with another glass of water and at times had to add more liquid to keep it from getting thicker.
My husband takes fiber every morning and wanted to try it. He uses the fiber in milk, but the Metamucil didnt mix well with the milk. So he didnt bother to try it again.
Would I use the Metamucil again, only if I had to take it one time a day? Three times a day is too hard to remember to take. The thickness of the new Metamucil is better then the old product but still had enough of the thick taste that I didnt like it.
The flavor while drinking gets a plus but the aftertaste gets a minus.
The container holds 48 doses and weighs about 10 ounces.
