Pros: Compact, loaded with features, displays are easy to customize
Cons: phone volume is sometimes low, buttons on face are begging to be bumped
The Bottom Line: I'd buy it again; it's fun having a phone that's also a camera at your side ready whenever, wherever. Having MP3 capability makes adding your own ringtones easy.

| jimjameslou's Full Review: LG VX8300 V Cast Music Phone |
My wife and I purchased these as upgrades from MUCH older Nokias. It's my first camera-phone, also my first V-cast phone. I bought it because it was a deal through Verizon at the time (2 phones for $50 + I was due for an upgrade so I'll get the $50 back as a rebate - basically: 2 phones for free!)
I don't use the v-cast features at all because of the cost of downloading music. I found that it was fairly easy to use some freeware and a USB link to manually upload music and home-made ringtones to the phone from my computer. The phone also has a slot for a mini-SD card for additional storage - something we'll probably get soon since we take a lot of pictures. The USB link also makes it possible to upload these photos instead of using the expensive web-service from the phone.
The camera is a 1.3 megapixel resolution, which actually takes decent pictures as long as the subject isn't moving. The shutter delay is pretty long, so a moving object (like a child) can get blurred or move out of the frame. Video quality is pretty poor, compared to the photos.
The musical quality of mp3s played on it isn't bad considering the size of the speakers. I don't use this very often, as I'm not usually in places where I can just blast music or wear headphones. I don't particularly like the buttons on the front face of the phone, as I'm always bumping them.
Now, to the original use of this thing: as a cell-phone. The battery life seems pretty good, lasting several days for me - though I use mine less than some people might. When talking, the speaker seems to have to be directly over the ear in order to hear. If you shift it slightly, it becomes hard to hear even with the volume at max. The sound, when played on speaker is ok, but not great. I don't use it often because it's a one-way speaker phone, so you can't hear and talk at the same time. The signal strength for Verizon around Baltimore and DC regions is VERY good with only one small spot that I've found so far without coverage (in a fairly steep-sided valley).
