I missed this- if you do another one, let me know--
I love the UK- love visiting my husband's family, and wish we could live there (even more so since "W" was re-elected).

I know it's closed but the review just kept sitting in my to be finished list. And it's hard to write reviews with a new baby.
You don't have to acknowledge my review if you don't want to, but I thought it was a cool writeoff all the same.

Hi Adrienne,
Thanks for your comments and your entries. As you can see I've added your first two but decided to close the Write Off at 20 reviews. (I figure you've got to know when to quit with these things, despite saying earlier that I'd let it roll indefinately).
Despite the Ameri-centric orientation of the site, I do find nearly all of the reviewers very accepting - and it's actually something of a novelty not being American! I haven't checked out Ciao! yet, but will give it a look. That's just what I need, another minute pot of money that I can't cash! (Although I'm always inherantly suspicious of website which include the letters 'CIA', especially in that order!)
Cheers

I don't need no stinking writeoff (Reply to this comment)
by adriennefoster
I just learned about your writeoff a couple of days ago, but since you announced it I have posted a few things that should qualify regardless. Since you didn't include a deadline, following are my humble offerings:
Randall and Hopkirk Deceased, Set 1
http://www.epinions.com/content_148834520708
Winterbourne
http://www.epinions.com/content_149995949700
The were previously posted elsewhere, but are new to Epinions, so I'm not sure you'd consider them eligible:
Shades of Winter
http://www.epinions.com/content_150099103364
England's Lost Castles
http://www.epinions.com/content_154841484932
If they are, let me know and I'll add the prerequisite blurb.
Have you taken a look at the Ciao!.uk website? If you think Epinions is xenophobic, you ought to try that one out. At least Epinions will pay non-U.S. residents for their work. Ciao! will let non-UK residents accumulate a small potful of cash, but won't pay out. That one would be lucrative for you, although its intent is market research and has a much more limited database.

Ah you pesky kids! Sneekin in after the deadline!
(Actually I'd totally forgotten that I'd set a deadline on this one.. so I guess I'll just let it roll until it runs outa steam)
Of course, I'd love to accept your entries.. on two very British things, thanks Becky and the good Capt for bringing the best of British entertainment to our attention once again..

Hey kookytree, cheers for the entry - I've just updated the w/o... which is finishing this weekend!
Great review, good to see some more British artists getting the 'big up' they deserve.
Did you want to include your Jamelia review too?
Just add a link to the write off somewhere in your reviews and I'll update the Jemelia one as well.
Cheers

..for this w/o, Epinions is way to US-centic. My entry is a review of Shaznay Lewis's Open, which takes on the American dominated RnB scene and wins (ish). Jamelia review coming soon!

Hey sadgit, great entry. This Write Off has taken a lovely nostalgic feel of late, and what could be more nostalgic to a Brit than Doctor Who?
Some very astute observations about the state of British TV too, as I'm sure anyone who has to currently endure it will agree. Thank the lord for BBC 3!

Re: HUAC (Reply to this comment)

That's just crazy talk. Every one knows that the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) only investigates French W/O's.
Surely any activity carried out by a non American citizen counts as an 'Un-American Activity'..? Right, I'm off to play tiddly winks! Free world be damned!!
(And why only French W/O's?)
Anyways, glad you like my avatar. I'm thinking of starting a 'Dyslexics Kalvin and Hobbes Apreshiashen Society' (or 'SHAKD' for short).. I'll be taking enquiries soon.
Cheers

Sheesh.... (Reply to this comment)

You wait all weekend for a review, then three come along at once!
Thanks guys! More great additions to this increasingly diverse write off.
Chris - I really want to get into Faithless after hearing lots of good things about them, and your review has just upped them to the top of my 'must listen' list.
Becky - Great account of Liverpool based on such a short visit. Nice to see that there's more to this place than just the Beatles! You gain extra points for reviewing my home town, but loose a point because it's a retrospective entry.... however another entry my just sway the game in your favour!
Terrie - Wonderful review of a quintessentially British book by one of our best loved authors. England has a knack for producing excellent childrens writers, and Potter was one of the best. If you ever get the chance to visit the interactive Beatrix Potter museum in Windermere in the Lake District, I'd highly recommend it!
Keep 'em comin..

I'll try to get around to writing a new review for your write-off soon. Maybe on "Coupling" or Pulp or Franz Ferdinand or Muse. We'll see...

You just had to post this after I've done my reviews of "Shaun of the Dead", "The League of Gentlemen", and that cool new(ish) Monty Python book.
Oh well, I'm sure I can find something else to write about, being the Anglophile that I am...
Great write off!

Re: 'kay (Reply to this comment)
by spiderkid
Hey there cowgirl.. thanks for the entry!
Fascinating stuff, Queens, religion and general skulduggery in towers and so forth lots of Off with her heads no doubt
all very British
Ive added your entry (with a somewhat truncated title!) but unfortunately the stupid Epinions html thingy wont let me embolden it. Every time I try to put the either side of the link it gives me an error and tells me Ive got a opening b> without a closing /b > and vice versa. Despite the fact that Ive done the identical thing with all the other entries!? Bizarre
If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know its really nothing personal!
Thanks again for your entry mothra3, I cant believe how diverse this W/O is turning out to be. (Unless the good Capt floods it with 27 more airport reviews
.) =-p
