The Bottom Line May you finally rest in peace, Mr. Brando.
As many of you know, Marlon Brando died several days ago due to lung failure. Now the world's greatest film actor and the world's greatest film director (Stanley Kubrick) are dead... With a career spanning over fifty years, Brando won at The Academy Awards, The Emmy Awards, The Golden Globes, The Cannes Film Festival, and has a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. I dont know if theres ever been a write off about one actor - the variety of reviews would be a little limited - but I think it may work this time. Anyway, the rules are pretty simple: 1. Write a review of a Marlon Brando movie focusing on his acting, the influence of the movie (if applicable), and its themes. 2. If possible, write a review of a movie that hasnt been done yet. I dont really care if there are two or three entries on the same film, but Id appreciate it if everyone didnt write about A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE. Thats it. Also, you dont have to limit yourself to his greatest work. Heres a list of recommended movies, though you also dont have to stick to these: A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE VIVA ZAPATA! THE WILD ONE ON THE WATERFRONT GUYS AND DOLLS MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY THE CHASE THE GODFATHER LAST TANGO IN PARIS THE NIGHTCOMERS SUPERMAN APOCALYPSE NOW THE FRESHMAN THE SCORE This write off begins today and ends on July 1st, 2005, as it is customary in most cultures to mourn over a death for one year. When you've finished, just leave the link in the "comments" section and I'll add your entry to the list. You can find my review of VIVA ZAPATA! here. Thanks for reading, and I hope youll join me in a verbal requiem for this great man. |
