I've belonged to all of the big 3 warehouse clubs, Sam's Club, BJs and Costco during the past 15 years, and I have found reasons to like each of them, but when it comes to purchasing electronic devices, Costco gets the nod. Why? Costco provides a good selection of products at reasonable prices, and backs up your purchase with the best protection.
How is Costco's service better than BJs? First, Costco accepts returns of cameras, iPods, televisions and computers within 90 days. That should be plenty of time to make sure it's the item you really want and it's working correctly. Second, they provide toll-free technical support for electronic devices to help you get them up-and-running properly. Third, they extend the manufacturer's warranty on televisions and computers to two years.
Compare that with the warranties you can purchase at the BJs, and the extended warranty alone can be a significant savings. As an example, a 47" Vizio HDTV which will cost the same at either club, will cost you an additional $180 for the BJs Protection Plus 2 year protection plan.
Although the clubs are more alike than different, the free protection Costco gives after the sale is an often overlooked advantage Costco has over Sam's and BJs!
