The Bottom Line This is the start of the countdown of my favorite movies ever.

Movies rock. Movies can stimulate someone’s mind and set them into another dimension of thinking. Watching a good movie can make you feel like you’ve spent your time wisely, but if you see a bad movie, you feel used. Basically, movies are fantastic.

Now I’m not that old, and I haven’t seen every single great movie out there. I know there are plenty that I need to see that I haven’t, but based on every movie that I’ve watched, I formulated a list about my favorite movies, so...drum roll please... “ the 10 best movies ever!”

10. Minority Report (2002)
This is probably my favorite Tom Cruise movie that I’ve seen and one of the better Sci-fi movies out there. Of course you can expect brilliance like this coming from a man such as Steven Speilburg, who as a matter of fact is the director of this film. The reason why this Sci-fi movie does so well is because it has brains and brawn. It’s not some stupid “invade and destroy all the aliens” sci-fi (although you really just got to love some of those movies); it’s a movie about a futuristic control where crimes are stopped before they are even committed. Now tell me if that’s not cooler than cool itself (note: please don’t).

Not only do you have Tom Cruise as John Anderton, but you also have other stars such as Colin Farrel, and I’ll have to comment that the acting is pretty good overall. Still, the best part about it no doubt is its plot, and there’s a few great twists along the way. If you’re a Sci-fi, then you have to see this movie

9. Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)
Old Man: What is your name?
Me: My name is Sir Joe-Cool, son of Christoph the great.
Old Man: What is your quest?
Me: To seek the Holy Grail.
Old Man: What is....your favorite color?
Me: Yellow...No! Green! No! ARGGHHH!!! (falls off a very tall bridge)

Yeah, that’s how I’d probably die in this movie from one of the funniest scenes in movie history ever. I can’t ever forget the time I watched this movie the first time. I laughed for a straight five minutes still I started crying because it started to hurt. Clearly one of the funniest movies of all time, Monty Python and the Holy Grail is packed with the pure comic silliness that’s so hard to perfect. This movie has everything from Knights who say “Ni!,” killing flying bunny rabbits, and of course, your Holy Hand Grenades. Pretty much everything about this comic genius of a movie is great and is always a thrill to watch (especially for the action packed ending!)

8. Reservoir Dogs (1992)
This superb, yet short movie, has such a unique story going on that I had to include it. I loved how Quentin Tarantino’s direction in this heist gone wrong story was done. The twist in this movie will knock you off your seat into tomorrow. From that point on, you’re hooked into this movie. Not only that, but there are spots where it can be funny and spots where it can serious, but the last half hour of this movie is downright suspenseful, which had me creeping towards the edge of my seat. Quentin just does these movies very well (he even stars in this one!).

7. The Godfather, Part 1 (1972)
This movie is a classic. It’s been over thirty years since this movie has come out and it still is raved about today. I saw this movie actually very recently, and I declared that it was worthy of being on this countdown. The acting: stellar. Al Pacino will really reign as the best gangster there is out there. But let’s not forget about Marlon Brando who is the best godfather I’ve ever seen in a movie ever (I guess why the movie is called The Godfather). It’s filled with suspense and a true mafia feeling. When you watch the movie, it makes you feel like you’re apart of the family; I could literally smell the scent of Italian food coming from my kitchen. My only real complaint about this movie is that it is a tad long. I mean, its as long as the first Lord of the ring movie, but still, there’s a lot of action in The Godfather to keep you satisfied.

6. 25th Hour (2002)
This is probably the one “sleeper” movie on the list, but it was just too powerful to not include in this countdown. Edward Norton appears twice on this list, mainly because he’s my favorite actor. Anyways, this movie directed by Spike Lee is extremely powerful. It was pretty much the first movie to deal with the events after 9/11 and it didn’t screw it up. The story, plot, and characters all act beautifully in this film, which is dubbed as Spike’s best film ever, but I have to agree that its probably Edward Norton’s stand alone best movie ever.

Not much happens in this movie as in action sense. There’s really no action shots or crazy special effects, which a lot of movies use as a crutch today in order to make their movies good. This movie just has a really strong story that makes it better than a lot of movies with crazy special effects shots without a story. With its powerful characters and story, this movie rightfully earns its number 6 spot on this countdown.

Alrighty, now that you’ve hit the 6th mark, you still have 5 more movies to count down, and they only get better from here on. So grab a sandwich or soda, take a little break, relax, and jump on over to ׃ 4 3 2 1 Best Movies Ever!”
