Greatest Baseball Story Just Came Out in Print entitled; Innings Through Time (Reply to this comment)
by jmaura
It is in my professional opinion that Innings Through Time IS The greatest baseball story. If you read it, I know you will agree. I wholeheartedly agree with the reviews stated regarding the greatest baseball films. But a new book just came out where they WILL miss the boat if the don't make a movie of it. Its entitled Innings Through Time; The Greatest Baseball Story Ever Told. I think this one might be the one! It's also endorsed by a major leaguer. I gave a glowing review on the Amazon page and I have seen since then someone else felt the same way as I did with their review. Here is an excerpt of the editorial review (Until now... no one has ever written the definitive baseball story. This book takes the main theme from every popular baseball story and combines them into one compelling and exciting adventure. Ten Times More Mystical than Field of Dreams. Greater Love Story than Pride of the Yankees. More Psychological Intensity than Fear Strikes Out. More Inspiring than The Jackie Robinson Story. More Emotional than Bang the Drum Slowly. More Magical than The Natural.)Here's the link to the Amazon page if you wanted to check it out. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1598868136?ie=UTF8&tag=innithrotime-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=1598868136 I also just found the authors personal page that gives more details about the book and all of chapter one. www.GreatestBaseballStory.com I was floored with this one. Great List! (Reply to this comment)

I do have one comment though...
16. The Sandlot (1993) -- Starring James Earl Jones
Do you really think that James Earl Jones' cameo at the end of the movie qualifies him to get listed as a star? lol
I'm looking forward to this season too! This is going to be year for Seattle to turn it all around! Makes me want to start up an Epinions fantasy baseball league! lol
Btw, I have one other for you to check out... it's an anime called "Princess Nine" about an all girls baseball team. I know you're not really an anime fan but do yourself a favor and check this one out! You can even read my review of the first volume ( http://www.epinions.com/content_128165121668 ) if you're unsure.
Great list!

sitting here. I want to post a review for it on the day pitchers and cathcers report for the Mets for Spring Training. Woohoo! It's that time of the year again....
Unfortunately, the Mets' track record with free agents means they're both going to have pretty crappy years. Oh well, it's the optimism of spring!

Baseball... (Reply to this comment)
by captaind
... not a sport we in England are too familiar with....
I think I've only seen your no.11, but funnily enough someone at work was talking about no.17 today, then I reach this... weird... (Keanu Reeves acting all emotional, like?!?!?)
Nice write-up.

Who knew? I 'm a baseball fan! (Reply to this comment)

I collected baseball cards when I was a little girl and I was captain of my GAC (Girls Athletic Club) softball team. When I was in high school back in the stone age girls were not allowed to compete like the boys and we couldn't earn letters for our own letter jackets. We were only allowed to wear a letter jacket if some boy asked us to go steady and then we got to wear his. They did let us girls play sports for fun after school amongst our selves but no traveling to other schools to compete. Still, I really liked baseball. I saw Sandy Koufax pitch and Yogi Berra catch. I even saw Jackie Robinson play at an expo game before the Indians took on the Red Sox one year. However, I married a man who didn't care two cents for the game and even though I took my sons to a few live games and was a Little League mom baseball stopped being important to me...or so I thought!! As I read over your great and entertaining review I found that I have seen and enjoyed every one of these films except for number 12 which I have not seen. The original Angels in the Outfield was just on Turner Classic Movies last week. I wouldn't have guessed I had seen so many baseball movies. I'm going to have to get my (grown-up) "boys" together and go see what the Brew Crew is doing in Milwaukee. Thanks for the great memories. Loved your review.

.......realize that Angels in the Outfield was a remake. Now I want to see the original.
Damn Yankee's is an excellent movie as well. I can just hear Gwen Verdon singing Whatever Lola Wants.
Thanks for some wonderful baseball movies....I think I've seen them all...except the original Angels.......make it a great day Ryan.......kath

Bull Durham (Reply to this comment)

would have been higher on my list too, but The Natural is tops for me as well. Just finally bought Eight Men Out when I caught it at a discount, so if my TV ever gets fixed I'll be watching it again - it was a great film as well.

and since I love the songs and dances in musicals, "Damn Yankees" was high up, too.
