Not good for business customers
Written: Aug 15 '07 (Updated Aug 15 '07)
Staring in Jan 07, they upped their server storage to a very generous amount. At the same time, they started suspending websites of business customers who were using their websites to upload files. Ex. a band uploaded recordings of their practice sessions for archiving and in order to track areas of improvement. The band had their site suspended. A jazz musician updated her blog and used 'too many tags too quickly' and had her site deleted.(you can google to get a better grasp of the facts - I am repeating from memory here)
Basically they are very quick to claim violation of TOS and shut the site down. If your business is - for example - doing type face editing of novels/manuscripts, you cannot let your customers upload their their manuscripts to your website - these are considered files 'unrelated to your website '. Ditto on allowing family members to share photos of the kids.
If you are not running a business and/or are not using your site for much more than providing information about your business (aka a placeholder with a few links), lunarpages is a good choice (see the Pros below). But who wants a provider who suddenly starts to change how they apply their TOS?
