The Scarlet Spider figure was part of the, now defunct, Spiderman toy line from Toy Biz. They all featured multiple points of articulation, and were fun products. They were designed for the collectors market, as well as, for kids to play with. The line has been revamped several times, especially with the three movies that came out. Various figures have been released in this line.
Kb Toys a two rare Spider-man variant toys. The First was Spider-man 2099, based on the comic of the same name. The second one was the Scarlet-Spider. Scarlet-Spider was from the clone saga story and was supposed to be the real Peter Parker. Turns out fans hated the story line and the Peter Parker we all know and love came back. This toy is significant because it was the only one, at that time, to be made in this costume, and was only released to Kb toy stores. Sadly, these figures lingered on the shelf for a while and were easily picked up at Kb outlets. When collectors found out they were there they swooped in and picked them up.
Needless to say this figure is quite rare. It pulls between $30-$50 at on=line auction sites, in unopened condition. Since they are rare, if you have one in unopened and mint condition you might want to think about unloading it. The spiderman 2099 figure is equally as rare.
Like at the Spider-man toys, this one came with a reprint comic, a display base, and several accessories. The packaging was made to be tough to open so it protects the figure better. The packaging is a clear plastic case with "weld" style edges, this helps to keep the package in a mint state as well, highly sought after in the collectors market.
