Well worth the $124 for 2 pairs of bifocals!

My wife and I recently went for new eye exams. Although I've worn bifocals for 4 years now, our optometrist royally welcomed my wife to the world of presbyopia. Of course, our optometrist wanted us to get our new glasses from the company she works for. By the time we added it all up, we were talking roughly $400. I said that we'd like to shop around.
I had heard of Zenni Optical a year or so ago, but the majority of experiences were negative, and I didn't think it would be worth the aggravation just to save a few bucks. But I decided to revisit Zenni (and recent reviews), and I'm glad I did!
My wife and I both took measurements of our old glasses to get an idea of the lens and frame sizes that we were comfortable with. We found some nice frames online. I selected standard lined bifocals (I despise progressives) with the antireflective coating. My wife selected progressive bifocals with transition lenses. Mine were $30 with frame and my wife's came out to $89. With $5 shipping, the grand total was $124. Quite a bargain!
I ordered on a Saturday and got an immediate email verifying my order, along with an order number. One week went by, and I hadn't gotten any other correspondence back from Zenni. I waited 3 more days, and called them. They told me that my order had shipped the day before, and to give it 5 days (since they ship regular, first class US Mail). Well, on the 17th day, they arrived!
In the box were 2 hard cases (with nice magnetic closures). The glasses were wrapped with a Zenni-branded microfiber cloth. The glasses were stunning! Although the frames are very "delicate", they looked good. Upon closer inspection, you can tell the frames are cheaply made. There were no inscribed markings where name-brand frames would have them. And you can see tiny flaws. My wife's frames fit her perfectly and didn't need any adjusting. My glasses needed a little adjusting in the nose pads (I have a wide bridge), but the frames, for what we paid, were fine.
As for the lenses, there was not a single scratch on any of our lenses! I did see the greenish tint of reflected light on the AR coating, but it doesn't interfere with vision. And you can't see it when looking at the glasses when they're on my face. Since I've had awful luck with local opticians making my prescription properly, I was very skeptical that Zenni would get it right. Well, they DID get it right! I can see perfectly!
My wife and I are very happy with Zenni. You get MORE than you pay for. I don't know about durability yet, but if they last a year, we'll be more than happy.
Good job, Zenni!
