| jlundquist1's Full Review: Samsung SCH-u740 Cellular Phone |
Listen, I don't really review electronics. I review mostly Texas State Parks. However, while I was in my last state park, I lost my phone, and Verizon gave me this one as a replacement. So forgive me if my review doesn't answer all your questions. I've seen some other cell phone reviews on epinions and this won't even compare. I promise.
When I went in and explained to the sales person at Verizon that I needed a new phone, she asked what I used my phone for? "Making phone calls", I replied. Well I text alot. I run a part time business pretty much by cell phone texting. I also like to take photos and send them to my better half.
The Samsung 740 is an awesome phone for texting. Using it in Landscape mode you get a full qwerty keyboard which makes sending lengthy messages, especially ones with words not recoginzed by Tword easy. Dialing while opened in the portrait mode (normal) is a bit tough b/c the keys are so small.
The phone has a 1.3 megapixel camera, like most others and takes pictures like most others. It has stereo speakers that sound like every other cell phone (not great, not bad). You can use the phone as an MP3 player, with a bulky adapter for headphones but of course it's difficult to put music on the phone with out using and paying for vcast. Overall the phone is just like most others, except that it opens sideways and has a full qwerty keyboard which is GREAT!
The Samsung seems to be well built in that it doesn't feel flimsy even though it pivots on a small point. Battery life isn't that great, however I've never used any other phone this slim and I heaf from friends with Motorola Razrs that it's comparable. The Samsung also can accept a micro SD. As is typical with Verizon it comes with nothing but a home charger.
I'd recommend this phone, I like it alot, but I'm not doing backflips. I will say that after owning an Ericcson, Motorola, 2 lg's, and a few others I really like what Samsung puts out.
