| michaelagreen's Full Review: 2003 Infiniti FX |
After owning an Audi TT, Ford Expedition, VW Touareg, 4Runner, Cayenne, Range Rover, Crossfire, and ML350. I know vehicles very well, partly from growing up in the car industry. I recently picked up my used 2003 Infiniti FX35 and it is amazing!
I bought mine with the Sport and Tech package, which I would highly recommend. The sport package gets you the 20" wheels which I was skeptical about because of the ride, but replaced the stock tires and much better. The ride is very firm, which I prefer to the Lexus / Lincoln squishy suspension. You hug the road and feel it very well. The interior is extremely sporty and matches the exterior very well. I bought mine black on black and have had no regrets. I prefer a more luxurious interior, but this is more age appropriate (20 years old).
The cars keyless go, intelligent cruise control, navigation, dvd player, reclining rear seat, cargo capacity, rear view camera are all amazing. I can rant and rave about the positives, but so can any car magazine.
My biggest selling point is that it can take regular gas, but if you can afford it, put premium in it because it is a whole other animal. Premium gas will let you race (and win) many little cars and most SUVs.
Here are the cons, and what a magazine won't tell you. Parts and finish are very cheap/japanese. The center console, navigation, door panels can all just "pop" off with a little wiggling. This is good for modifications or just cheap plastic. The doors don't lock automatically when you drive so if you forget to lock the doors, someone can just jump you at a light. The passenger seats only go 4 ways, can't go up and down and is frustrating for the passenger. To get in and out of the back seats is ideally for kids, grown ups have a HARD time. To recline the seats in the rear you have to do it from the trunk, very hard to access when seating. The glove box will only hold the manual. The navigation can't be inputted when driving, you must be at a full stop. No parking sensors available. No bluetooth until 06.
I would highly recommend this truck for the reliability, gas mileage (17-18 city, 25+ highway)... I love it and don't miss driving any of my other cars.
Thanks and hope this helps!
