| frzldmm's Full Review: Stardust |
My wonderful dad invited myself and my son to the movies today. Originally, we were going to see the Bourne Ultimatum but the soonest one available wasn't good time wise for him. Soooooooooooooooo......we decided on Stardust!
THE PLOT
It takes one on a journey between two worlds - the mystical, magical "Kingdom of Stormhold" and the real world, Wall, England.
Tristan (Charlie Cox) is a product of love between his father, who had crossed the wall earlier, and was united with a beautiful princess in the magical "Kingdom of Stormhold". To protect her son, she has him delivered to his father in the real world, Wall, England.
Upon turning 18 years of age, he seeks out love. He thinks his true love is Victoria (Sienna Miller). While sipping champagne, a star falls from the sky. In an effort, to win over Victoria, Tristan promises to bring her back the star. Victoria is a materialistic woman, Tristan finds out later on in the movie.
Tristan is given what was sent with him in the basket to his dad and his dad shares these with him. First a white flower, and a letter meant for him directly wrapped around a candle. As soon as he thought about his mother, he was transported to the magical "Kingdom of Stormhold" where he would land atop the fallen star, Yvaine (Claire Danes). And Tristan's adventure begins!
WHAT I LOVED ABOUT THE MOVIE!!!!
Stardust is a great movie full of adventure, love and magic.
I loved the way Director, Matthew Vaughn brought all the magical and real worlds together and yet kept me on the edge of my seat, waiting to find out if the fallen star would live or die.
Charlie Cox was wonderful as Tristan. He made a believable 18 y/o grown to a mature man part work well with his journey from the real world to the magical world.
Claire Danes plays Yvaine, a fallen star role in this movie.
Although Tristan and Yvaine are the main cast for this movie, Robert De Niro does a great job with his character -Captain Shakespeare.
Michelle Pfeiffer (Lamia) does a splendid job of being the villain in this movie. The transformation from being an old witch to a young woman and back again was phenomenal.
I loved the way the sons of "The King", played by Peter O'Toole all ended up ghosts. Although Peter O'Toole had a small part in the movie, he was splendid and it really helped the viewer to follow the story line.
THE COSTUMES
There is nothing bad to say here!!! They were all done well for the cast and the parts they played.
The screenwriters did a wonderful job with this movie.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT THE MOVIE!
Nothing. From the good to the bad, it kept me on the edge of my seat.
Thanks for reading.
