I bought my machine from Vita-Mix directly as a mail order 11 years ago. In those 11 years I have come to rely on Vita-Mix for parts replacement and they always come through for me with fast delivery and friendly customer service. Last year the blade assembly needed replacing. I thought I would forgo getting this from Vita-Mix and save a few bucks by ordering from a company called TotalVac.com (you can look them up on Epinion for my scathing review).
Besides Ritz Camera’s website this was the single worse Internet purchase experience I have had. I came to my senses and went to the Vita-Mix website. Not only did I get my part quickly I received a special tool to easily remove and install the blade assembly (when I received the same part from Totalvac.com it was obvious this tool wasn’t in the box- please do NOT order from TotalVac.com!). Without this tool it would have been extremely difficult if not downright impossible to remove/install the blade assembly part.
After convincing my girlfriend about the many benefits of the Super 5000 she decided to order one but not from VitaMix.com. She tried another website (Kitchen Universe). Her experience was nothing less than awful. She was told the product had shipped and then could not get any shipping information from their customer service. This went on for 2 weeks. She tried to cancel the order but they told her it could not be canceled because the item was in transit- for two weeks?!
She went to the Vita-Mix website and the machine was at her house in two days (we live in MI and Vita-Mix is located in OH). She has used it everyday since- sometimes 2-3 times a day.
I have also noticed several chains uses this machine to create their mixed drinks and smoothies. I was in a Red Robin Gourmet Hamburgers restaurant back in 1998. As I was drinking my beer at the bar I heard the familiar whirl of a Super 5000 whipping up drinks (yes- this machine has a sound unlike no other. The high pitch whirl comes from its powerful motor).
I have seen other products claiming to be as good or better than the Vita-Mix. I cannot deny their claims. Yet I will be a loyal Super 5000 owner because of my positive experiences with the machine and the great experiences with the Vita-Mix website and the people at Vita-Mix whenever I have called them.
