I got one a couple years ago and it has become the guitar I go to for heavy metal and hard rock. I still use my Strat for the classic stuff (Eagles, Pink Floyd, and a lot of original stuff).

all I can say is it's about time! The SG has been my guitar of choice for over 40 years and I can't imagine being without it.
My current SG is just like the one you have, and I've had it for 12 years.
Enjoy it as I have.
