Pros: Cheap - $10 for one location, $20 if you want to use all three.
Cons: Too JUDGEMENTAL,stupid dress code, not enough equipment, non-motivating atmosphere.
The Bottom Line: Unless you're an overweight gym newbie who wants to feel like you're doing something good for yourself - stay way from Planet Fitness.

| margrita39's Full Review: Planet Fitness |
My World Gym in Colorado Springs became a Planet Fitness on July 1 - the whole thing was kept a secret until the Saturday prior to the changeover. I read the reviews on this site, so I was somewhat prepared for what I was going to encounter - but words cannot completely describe the experience of walking through the door that first time. Gone were ALL the pieces of plate-loaded equipment - which was what I primarily used, being a recreational bodybuilder for 20 years. Gone were all the barbells over 60 lbs - good thing I'm only doing upright rows with the 50# bar - I'd better not get any stronger. There are a few bars on the bench press benches that one can load plates on - provided nobody else is using them. The worst part - all the serious lifters are gone - they were met at the door on the first day and told they were not welcome there. Half that gym - if not more - was the serious guys. If telling them they're not welcome there isn't being judgemental, than I don't know what is. I personally witnessed the manager go up to a couple good-sized guys who evidently slipped past the front desk and let them know they were not to come back any more. At least he let them finish their workout that evening.
They haven't implemented the entire dress code yet - they do these things gradually. The one about no do-rags, bandannas, etc. just went up about a week ago. Nothing yet about the no tank tops on men rule - that's probably next - along with the no sports bras on women unless they're covered with a t-shirt. I've gotten some looks but haven't been approached yet - being a super-fit woman I suppose sooner or later someone will be offended at the tank tops and spandex pants I wear.
Right now, there are about 6 of us World Gym members left. We're trying to decide where we want to go - it sure isn't going to be Planet Fitness. Even the guys who work the front desk don't work out there - they pay for memberships at other local gyms like Flex and 24 Hour Fitness.
I'm not sticking around for the massage chairs, tanning beds, cardio theatre and free pizza - I joined the gym to lift weights and I'm having a hard time doing that with limited equipment, which they have no immediate plans to add to. How are those chairs and beds going to help people get fit?????
