Pros: A really nice ale which is well worth tracking down.
Cons: Why do they have to break all the taps to sell it?
The Bottom Line: Well worth trying. Might have to go back to Nawlins to pick up a case.

I'll Have A Draft (Oh no you won't!!)
During our recent visit to Nawlins' we had occasion to go to some more conventional eating establishments (such as pizzerias) to accommodate the unique and very restrictive appetites of our nine year old. So frequently darling wife and I would share a starter and have a drink, and save our eating for later in the evening. Not wanting to crack a bottle of wine on these occasions I invariably ordered a local draft and each time I was told that the taps were out of order and I ended up ordering a bottle of the local brew, the Abita Fleur-de-lis Restoration Ale.
Okay I'll Take The Local
The beer came in a brown bottle with a light brown label and featuring the Fleur-De-Lis which has really come to symbolize the rebirth of New Orleans since the Katrina disaster...it is everywhere!!. The nose was very pleasant, a lot of hops and a faint citrus feel to it. Pouring into the glass it has a nice golden color and it pours with a full head. The head looks like that of many of the real ales I used to enjoy so much in the United Kingdom.
What Is That Name Again?
After taking the first sip all thoughts of a draft just disappear. This stuff is really really good. A good hoppy flavor with a full mouth feel. There is a little citrus to the taste, but hard to describe it, just a nice flavor. The smooth finish with just the slightest bitterness at the end is enough to make you want to take another mouthful, and isn't that the whole idea after all?
Just Bring Me A Restoration Ale, And Make It Snappy!!
I am not kidding here, during our stay we must have had three or four occasions where the taps were supposed to be out, but after the first I was sold on the Restoration Ale and by the end of the stay I just went for that from the get go.
The Abita website states that Abita Fleur-de-lis Restoration Ale is made with English Pale, Lager, Crystal and Cara Pils malted barley. It is liberally hopped and dry hopped with American Cascade and fermented with California Ale yeast. It also expounds the virtues of the Abita Springs water..I can't argue with any of that, all I can add is it tastes great.
Now back in Florida I have not been able to locate it locally but believe me I am looking hard.
