The Bottom Line If they offered a major rebate on something considerably expensive, then I'd consider shopping here again. Otherwise, I'll probably add TigerDirect to the list of stores I'll never return to.

I will not shop at this online vendor again, unless they suddenly offers something I need for a
considerable discount.
I went to TigerDirect, because they were advertising on America Online 128 MB RAM for $20,
with a $20 rebate. In the end everything has worked out ok, but not without a great deal of
hassle. Before I list what has deterred me from returning to this site let me just note the two
redeeming qualities of this experience:
1) $20 rebate - A rebate is always good. Especially when it's for the entire price of the product.
2) Scot - Scot was the only nice customer support person at TigerDirect. Actually he was the only
one who wasn't incredibly rude, and probably the only reason I would consider buying from
TigerDirect again. In the end it was Scot who helped me and said that he has shipped me the
rebate.
Now that you know all the positive points about this online store, here are the reasons to steer
clear of it.
1) Website - I must have entered my information an excess of 10 times while trying to purchase
this memory. The website went in circles, and when it wasn't getting errors, it was telling me to
sign in, again, and again, and again. It refused to let me actually buy something. Finally I
succeeded
2) Shipping - The cheapest shipping on a $20 item which is about the size of a credit card was a
little over $8. This confused me because I was expecting a small box with some packing material
and the memory. I understood a bit when a the memory came in a box that was about a foot long
by a foot wide and about 8 inches or so high.
3) Tracking? - The only tracking their site offered was to tell me if the product had been shipped
or not.
4) On time? HA! - The cause of all the trouble after hitting send was TigerDirect's inability to
deliver on time. I placed this order on the 17th of the month. It was scheduled to come in 3 to 7
days. It came the 5th of the next month. The rebate had to be postmarked the 1st, so I called
customer service.
5) Customer support - There were so many things wrong with this step of the process.
First I was on hold for about 15 minutes because of a large call volume. Finally a live person
answered the phone.
"What do you expect me to do about it?" - This was the question the first customer support
person asked me when I told him what had happened. I explained I either wanted the rebate or for
TigerDirect to pay for the shipping return. Normally the customer has to pay for return shipping.
He put me on hold for another 15 minutes or so when I had to leave for a class. I called back later
that day and was on hold again, this time for 30 minutes. Finally another live person answered the
phone.
This person told me he didn't have the authority to deal with it. When I asked to speak to
someone who did have the authority he put me on hold for 45 minutes, at which point I was
disconnected.
Finally after another 30 minutes of hold time, I spoke to Scot, whom I mentioned above, and I
must admit I wasn't very nice. Scot asked for my order number, something the other
representatives hadn't done. After a few seconds of silence he told me he'd ship the rebate to me.
Basically, if they were to offer some sort of major rebate on something that would be considerably
expensive elsewhere, then I'd consider shopping here again. Otherwise, I will probably add
TigerDirect to the list of stores I will never return to.
