Sage is good, though sage and onions is so much better, don't you think!?!? :-D

This was a really helpful review. My movie reviews are not the strongest and I'm trying to work on improving them. I'm currently writing a review for a movie that I hope to have posted in the next few days and this is really helpful!

Stop trying to score sympathy points, Jan. You know you're one of my favourite writers on eps. (Note that I said "a few of my favourite movie reviewers"...

Carline darling, your movie reviews don't suck (though they do stink a little... :-P)

You lack confidence, young one. Feel the power of the force and all will be well.

I haven't gotten the nerve yet to attempt a movie review - but when I do, I'll certainly be referring back to this guide. Thanks for the tips!!

I'm not big on discussing much technical stuff so maybe that's why I'm not one of your favs, huh?

I think my movie reviews suck even more than my mucic ones do so your advice is really appreciated here. I will absolutely take your words into consideration. I do have trouble with describing the direction/cinematography, etc. I just don't understand all that stuff and try to write on how a film makes me feel. I wish I knew more about the technical aspects but your continuing advice will help me improve, I hope.

Before actually joining Eps I spent a few weeks just reading reviews and I think that really helped me learn what was expected. I'll never be great but I'll always aim for the best I can do.

Thank you again,

..
you said...
"(particularly with less well known thespians) . . ."

I know we are a free and open community that embraces all, regardless
of their particular turn, twist, or color of the rainbow ( 'PC' is not just a
phrase...
) but are you sure we should be 'outing' actors/actresses like
this . . .??

Very nicely done.

Hey Cyndi!

That's a good point, though I'm kind of assuming people will do that anyway - we all read who we enjoy reading, right? Erm... well, maybe.

I'll add a paragraph tomorrow about it... right now, I'm going to bed!

Thanks for the comment :-)

May I add one more thing?

I think writers can learn a lot by paying close attention to reviews that they enjoy. If someone visits the site and finds a movie reviewer who really shares what the reader wanted to know, then that is a good place to start as far as looking at what makes up a great review. Obviously, that will vary from reader to reader (-:

Very nice review.
