The Bottom Line stuff that i think...
My Great Introduction: I think we, as a people, should just start loving each other more. 1) Do you believe in science's evolution theory or the Bible's creation theory? Maybe both or neither or one. They _are_ theories aren't they? I don't believe they must be mutually exclusive but they might be. I believe in a higher-power. I call it God but I also realize that I might have gotten the name wrong. I believe this power probably created us. But I think we created It in the current conception of Him, Her, or It, as far as the Bible is concerned. But then again, I might be wrong. Maybe the supposedly delusional madman who wrote Revelations was more lucid than any of us pretenders. Maybe I believe in evolution. Frankly, I don't even care about evolution. Whether or not it is true makes absolutely no difference to anything, does it? 2) If you believe in the Bible's creation theory do you disbelieve science in other areas such as medical research, geology, astronomy, physics, biochemistry, etc? Well, since I don't believe in the Bible's theory word for word, I'm not quite sure I'm qualified to answer this. But I will anyways. No. It all might be true. 3) Why do you think "we are here?" (Why do humans exist?) Well, that depends on if we were put here or we just arose out of the ashes, just 'cause. I like to believe, however, that we are here to love each other and build a great society where we all take care of each other, unconditionally. Oh, and by the way, we're failing miserably. 4) Can we ever truly be happy by grasping for material things (cars, houses, CDs, movies, clothes, etc.) or should we be more concerned about affecting/improving others' lives? I believe we should be more concerned about "affecting/improving others' lives." It would help if we did the little things like smile more towards each other, greet in public, get to know one another, instead of being so closed off as we go through our daily lives. It's amazing what the care of a stranger can do to improve someone's day, week, or hell, life, depending on the situation. Also, we need to do the big things, such as fighting so that everyone has healthcare coverage, that impoverished children have access to the same educational resources as high-income children do, and that everyone can eat regular meals (etc.). I don't really think material items are so bad though. I often wonder how idol trinkets can bring one happiness but, who am I to judge? I just think gluttony and greed are the true evils, not mere possessions. In the end, I think you just have to question, what drives you? To make life better for people and to find internal peace, or to get all that you can? I think if the former is what drives you, you should be fine. I think if the latter drives you, you will live a life with only happiness on the surface, and die incomplete. 5) Do you think ADD/ADHD are more a product of environment or genetics? Why do you think ADD/ADHD has become so prevalent in the last 20 or so years? I don't think that ADD/ADHD, in and of itself, has become so prevalent in the last 20 years or so. I don't think more people _have_ it. I think that because of the development of "wonder drugs" such as Ritalin, the pharmaceutical companies are cashing in on the souls of our children. While I think that ADD and ADHD are real and can be problematic, they're now over-diagnosed to make money for the Rx companies. The result: way too many children are artificially subdued because of drugs they probably shouldn't be taking. 6)Are you a Democrat or Republican or something else? Why do you subscribe to that ideology? None of that. I don't believe it's natural for a human being to be confined into these tightly crafted groups. I think it stagnates free thought, which I hold above all else. The two party system truly kills free thought because it's so confining. I don't personally like the expectation that I'll make this a or b decision. I also don't really like any other parties coming up. I think the Libertarians are as bad as anything else. I think they're more of an angry, counter-cultural movement than a real party. Why? Because whenever they present their case, you get anti-Republican and anti-Democratic sentiments but you don't get much on their platform. And why is that? Well, one, because they don't seem to be a real political party (who is the Libertarian presidential candidate again?). And two, because their platform is scary. I don't suppose this is the place for me to go on such a rant but anything that trusts so fully in the charitable spirit of man is not viable right now, and I doubt it'll ever be. It wants to go to a 0 government regulation, 0 government aid form of rulership and that's just silly. If we let the ills of man run rampant over this country than the ills of man will run rampant over this country. We have to do something to keep that in check. Besides them, there are the Greens, who I actually like somewhat. But they're as viable as the Libertarians. They scare people not because of their ignorance of the nature of man but because they know it all too well. So, I suppose if you really want to know, I like to agree with bits and pieces of most everyone. For the purpose of epinions we can call it Cradleism. I subscribe to bits and pieces (or bigger in some instances) of the beliefs of the Socialists, Communists, Populists, Greens, and Democrats. I am, in all senses, a progressivist. And despite what I dislike or don't believe in, I feel like we should all have the right to believe in what we'd like without being tormented by others for it. Quality debate is one thing, where opinions are respected. Harshly subjecting people to your beliefs is a total 'nother thing. Above all, I believe in free thinking. 7) George Bush or John Kerry for President? Why? No thanks. If I have to choose someone from the two parties, maybe Hilary Clinton? Howard Dean? 8) How do you feel about Ralph Nader getting most of his support from long time Republicans in the form of campaign contributions and signatures to get Nader on the ballot this fall? It's not surprising. In politics you do all you can to win and get the power. It's sad but it's the way it is. 9) Has toppling the regime of Saddam Hussein really made us safer? Or has it infuriated more Muslim fundamentalists and made us a bigger target? Us? Saddam Hussein tortured and killed so many Iraqis are we're worried about us? What a sad, sad commentary on Americans. To answer the question, I would guess the latter. I'm a pacifist. If someone attacks you violently, you retaliating violently will just make them come back even more violently. A cycle of this nature doesn't end with a violent act unless that violent act destroys the world. 10) Was the Abu Ghraib torture scandal a big deal to you? Yes. It was absolutely awful. No human being deserves to be subjected to that sort of torment, regardless of what they have done. 11) Why has Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind and financier of 9/11, been virtually ignored since the Iraq Invasion began? Why would Bush want to really capture Bin Laden? Bin Laden made Bush a loved man in the U.S.A.! If anything, Bush should invite him over to the white house for a cup of wine and a good chat. Osama has done much for him. 12) Do you think America should support and/or participate in a possible invasion/attack against Iran? No. 13) Have you seen or plan on seeing Fahrenheit 9/11? If you've seen it what did you think about it? I'd like to soon. I am partial to Michael Moore because, a) he's a fellow Michigander, and b) I like how he uses the same cheap propaganda tactics that our politicians use. He's a hero to me. 14) Do you think we, as a nation, are more united or more divided since 9/11? This nation is more polarized than I have seen it in my short life. 9/11 was a centripetal force in the short-run, centrifugal in the long-run. 15) The Terminator is Governor of California, Madeleine Albright was Secretary of State under President Clinton, and other foreign born American citizens have contributed to this country. Should foreign born American citizens be allowed to run for President? Yes. I think that there should be a requirement where a person would have to be a U.S. citizen for "x" amount of time before they can run, but yes, I do think that foreign-born citizens should have that door opened. 16) Do you trust the electronic voting machines that will be used in some states this election? No. I don't trust the government in general and I know voter fraud will be much easier in electronic voting machines because there will now be no paper, no hard record. Then again, that record didn't help much in Florida. Still, it just makes sense that fraud will be easier, therefore, higher. 17) Does the United Nations fill a relevant or necessary role in todays world? Yes. I think unification amongst all nations is necessary to make this world a better place for all. As I am not for total individualism in society, I am not for it in the global community. 18) Why are you Pro-Choice or Pro-Life? Well, first of all, I'm Pro-Choice. To ask why is absurd to me. I think it's just another choice that someone should be able to make. I'm Pro-Choice for where I want to go to college. I'm Pro-Choice for people to do drugs. I'm Pro-Choice for women to have an abortion. 19) Why do you support or condemn the death penalty? First off, I condemn the death penalty. I don't think we should be killing people, regardless of what they have done. Maximum security lockdown for life should be good (or bad) enough. 20) Any final thoughts or feelings? Don't be afraid to use your brain, that's what it's there for. Love each other.
