| drummell's Full Review: Underdog |
Have no fear....Underdog is here.
Very comical, cute movie.
Underdog (voiced by comedian Jason Lee)is the underachiever of the the police force. He soon becomes the laughing stock of the K-9 police force when he got nuts in a court room over a box that sits in front of the judge. Panicking the officers bring in the bomb squad to uncover the issue. When the box is finally opened its a slab of ham. Unhappy with himself and the laughing stock of the court room, police force and K-9 unit, Underdog throws in the towel, and walks away from the police force.
Out on the streets by himself, Underdog soon becomes abducted by Dr. Simon Barsinister (Peter Dinklage), for a science experiment, which goes terribly wrong! Underdog goes haywire trying to escape. In the process he knocks over a case full of vials of different sorts. When doing so the case falls on Underdog and "BAM" he has super powers!
After playing around with his powers for a while he soon gets use to them and puts them to good use. A security guard Dan Unger (Jim Belushi)finds Shoeshine, which is his name before Underdog! Dan takes him home to his son Jack (Alex Neuberger). They soon become family even after Jack things he's going crazy when the dog starts to talk to him. Jack soon realizes exactly what Shoeshine and do. He takes him to the park to test him out!
Although the movie was really cute and entertaining, my girls seem to enjoy it. I didn't find much story line behind it. It seemed really slow to start. The action wasn't very effective, what action there was. I didn't feel like much time or effort was put into making this movie. It reminded me of just about any other remake movie out there. It just didn't seem like a memorable movie to me. I don't see myself buying the DVD, unless of course my girls ask for it.
I did like the fact they they started the movie with clips from the original Underdog! Very good input.
In the end, Shoeshine over comes his issue of being the under achiever. He becomes loved by everyone because he actually did something right!
