Finally retiring my conventional box-spring mattress, I set out to buy the best-value bed I could find. I researched beds for a good month and finally settled on the Cerenity Deluxe with the quieter IFC 2001 Instant Firmness Control (with the memory foam upgrade).
Within a month, both my wife and I were experiencing back pain. We thought maybe there was a problem, like an air leak. We contacted NationwideMattress.com and their service was exceptional. They swapped out every part requested (first the pump, then the bladders themselves) and provided and easy method to return the used parts.
Unfortunately, there was nothing wrong with the parts. No matter what we do, our back pain continues. We have tried many, many settings and just continue to have problems (back pain and restless nights).
We have owned the bed now for 1.5 years. I don't believe at this point that this bed is salvageable. We are going to have to go back onto the bed market and try something different.
In fact, 3 months ago, we bought our daughter a top-of-the-line, box-spring Kingsdown Pillow Top mattress from a conventional source. Kingsdown does not sell their mattresses online, nor do they allow people to advertise Kingsdown prices online. This mattress/boxspring set was ~$2,000.
But it is more comfortable than the Comfortaire. We quite enjoy when our daughter sleeps over at her friends' homes, so we can sleep on her bed and get a good nights' sleep.
