My son is a fish...
With the exception of my son's very first bath, ever since then my son has loved bath time and water in any way shape or form. (I personally understand that love for the water as I think I was a fish in my other life too. In my life I have worked as a lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor, and Lifeguard Instructor). I started swimming at a young age and I feel that it is important to start kiddos young to show them that the water is fun, not scary, and how to be around it safely. Since my son's birthday is in early June , my husband and I decided that if he didn't receive a pool for his birthday that we would have to go out and get him one. My son couldn't possibly survive a summer without a pool for him!?!
Gift card...
My son received some gift cards for his birthday and we went looking at what those stores had to offer. At one of the stores I saw that they had some cute pools. The price of this one couldn't be beat... $3.00... but it had a pink top... could I live with my son having a pink part on the top of his first pool??? I decided at $3.00 that I could and bought it. (For the record, there were no other color selections.)
Intex 3 Ring Inflatable Pool
This pool is so easy to use. You can inflate this one by blowing it up, or using a pump. (I personally did it on my own and it wasn't too bad). The pool has 4 parts to inflate (the three rings and the cushion bottom). It took me less than 15 minutes to blow it up completely (taking a break halfway through). The pool is 34" x 10" when completely blown up.
Then the recommended amount of water is only up to the top of the first ring. We always went up to the top of the second ring because we didn't want him to get cold, and he always splashes half of the water out.
Adult supervision is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT with this type of toy because a child can drown in less than 3 seconds if conditions are right. So when using this pool or any pool NEVER EVER leave your child alone for even a minute.
Durability
This pool has received a lot of use this summer and has not had any problems or holes. We can store this easily by deflating and it does not take up much room at all. (It can fit back in the box (7"x 6.5" x 2").
Age recommendations
I think an infant who can sit up to about 18 months would enjoy this pool. After that the toddler will be too tall and need a larger pool! (No age recommendations came from the company).
Our experience
My son has totally enjoyed this pool this summer. We used it several times a week and found that my son really got into the splashing and playing with the bath toys that we would bring out to the pool.
My husband found that it usually took about 70 gallons of water to fill (we would fill it seven times with a 10 gallon bucket). We also would throw in the bath thermometer to make sure it wasn't too hot or too cold.
Here at the end of summer we did notice that our tall child (now 32.5 inches) is getting a little on the tall side for this pool, but it does still work. He even leans back and lays on the sides while putting his arms over the edges. It is so cute to watch. He has even started trying to blow bubbles since mommy and daddy always sit next to the pool and blow bubbles in the water. He hasn't quite gotten the hang of it yet...but I am sure that he will.
Overall
We would highly recommend this pool. If you can find this brand on sale you may come up with a great $3.00 deal too! (Full price is around $10). Next summer we will probably be looking for a larger pool...but we like Intex and will be looking for that brand!
