HomeMediaMusicSingularity - Mae
Opinion Summary
Where does the physical meet with the spiritual? Is this the typical question?
by divad23 | Sep 07 '07
Pros: Several thoroughly enjoyable rockers with insanely catchy choruses. I like some of the synth stuff.
Cons: Too much synth, not enough piano. Many up-tempo tracks are hard to distinguish from each other.

It is amazing to me how hard it was to write this review, and how much I procrastinated in getting it done.

Amen to that sentence. I can listen to most of the whole album in one sitting, but I can't think of any way to bring it all together cause, like you say, this is no 'Everglow' in terms of connectivity.

That said, I still don't think Mae has made the best album that they can. I love The Everglow, but I think it could have done without some tracks, and I don't view it as some sort of Magnum Opus for the band. So I'm hoping hoping they continute to improve with their next release, but this here definitely has some shining moments; "Crazy 8's" is my personaly favorite.

Anyway, great review, per usual,
-Jim
