This coffee maker was the most expensive that I ever bought. We drink a lot of coffee and had been going through a coffee maker every 1 to 1.5 years. The water is hard here. We bought this model because of the stainless steel boiler tank and 3 year warranty. It has been three years and I just bought another on line for $60, 2/3 the price I paid for the original. It has a self cleaning mode that works. Clean it when it says it needs it and the coffee tastes great and the brew speed stays fast.
The exterior is stainless steel and cleans easily and continues to look great today. The coffee basket uses #4 filters, I personally think that this produces a better cup of coffee.
Brew speed has averaged about 6 minutes for a 12 cup pot. This is not as fast as some of the models that boast fast brews, but plenty fast for us. When it needs cleaned it of course slows down a bit. There is a light that will flash and let you know it thinks it needs cleaned as well.
This system uses a charcoal filter for water filtration which I am convinced helps the longevity of the unit. Our water is well water and tastes pretty good to begin with, but it is hard. Generally mineral deposits are what kill the coffee makers in this house, even with regular cleaning.
This one eventually got to where the it was shutting itself off in the middle of a brew after 3+ years. The new one will be here in a couple of days.
