Pros: Easy, fast, nutritious; no mixing bowls.
Cons: Zipper is clear and small; hard for me to see and zip correctly.
The Bottom Line: I made the best omelet ever with this bag. I love them, they retain all the nutrients in the vegetables or fruit since they aren't cooked in liquid.

| disartain's Full Review: GLAD SimplyCooking Microwave Steaming Bags |
I always like to try new items in the kitchen. I was happy to receive the new GLAD SimplyCooking Microwave Steaming Bags.
Cooking in the microwave is nothing new and I use the microwave for many things. The most use is for reheating food, or cooking frozen entrees.
As I looked at the bags I saw a guide to many things you might use the bag for in the microwave.
The bag had pictures in a guide on the bag along with the number of minutes you should cook them. Since all microwaves are different this is just a guide to the amount of time it takes to cook using a 1000 watt microwave.
Using pictures instead of words is a great idea; even illiterate people will be able to use these bags.
Pros
Easy to use:
Keeps the kitchen cool:
Leaves all the nutrients in the vegetables you are cooking:
No need to worry about measuring cups:
No Water needed:
Vegetables taste good:
Fast:
Cons
The zipper was small and hard for me to see and make sure it was closed correctly. I know I have a lot of trouble seeing anything clear or white and I know others that are the same way.
The above con is probably the reason for this one, the bag popped open while cooking.
My Experience
The package had recipes in it and the pictures on the bag itself gave me a good idea of what could be cooked in the bag.
I was anxious to try the apples and the egg omelet. The first thing I tried was the omelet; I never cook eggs in the microwave because they are like rubber and have no taste. I really wasnt expecting much from the omelet but hey it was only two eggs.
I followed the instructions on the leaflet, I didnt add ham but did add the cheese and a half cup of mushrooms. My microwave runs very hot so I cut the cooking time to one minute and 45 seconds. I looked at the omelet when the time was up but the bottom was still runny so I added 5 more seconds and then let it sit for 2 minutes.
I retrieved the bag by picking it up at the top which wasnt hot and then I opened it very carefully. I flipped the omelet onto a plate and grabbed a fork. The first bite was great, moist and not rubbery, one of the best omelets I have ever eaten.
I was very surprised and happy, this meant I could cook made to order omelets in just minutes and everyone could eat together. Mixing the omelet while in the bag after standing the bag up was great; no bowls and just a spoon to mix inside the bag, was easy and made fewer dishes.
The next day I wanted to try the apples. I peeled three apples and used the apple corer to remove the core and cut them into slices. I set the bag to stand and added the apples; I put sugar on top of this and looked for the Cinnamon but couldnt find any so I used Pumpkin pie spice. I sealed the bag and set the microwave to 2 minutes.
When the time was up the apples were ready to eat and delicious I might add. This is something I will be using the bags for regularly. The apples was good and nutritious and the baby loved them as much as I did.
I will be buying GLAD SimplyCooking Microwave Steaming Bags and using them regularly since I hate vegetables that are soggy and that is what I get when I use to steam them in water. I want to try new recipes in the bag and see what I can come up with.
All in all GLAD SimplyCooking Microwave Steaming Bags will become a staple in my kitchen.
I recieved these bags free from Fleishman-Hillard in return for giving my honest opinion.
