wondered that question myself. Once, I referred to an orchestra as a band. My date corrected me.
You're right about the compatibility issue. I had a boyfriend who was a music major and could play anything on the piano and also played the trumpet. (I think it was a trumpet.) We tried writing music together; me writing the words, him writing the music. It didn't work. We argued and it wasn't any fun and didn't go anywhere. Other than that, we never argued in our relationship! Go figure. I was disappointed to say the least.
Nowadays I just sing around the house for my own enjoyment.
