| bradshawcl's Full Review: Cascade Complete |
I have been using Cascade for several years now, but I have never tried Cascade Complete, but I have tried the Cascade Complete with Bleach. I received a 75 oz. bottle of Cascade Complete Liquid Dishwashing Detergent from Hass MS & L along with a 75 oz. bottle of liquid detergent from their competitor, Electrasol, and a really nice dish towel as well in exchange for my review on Epinions.
These bottles of detergent came just at the right time, because I was almost out at home and it was on my shopping list. Now that I had these bottles, I had plenty of dirty dishes to try them out on.
The Cascade Complete comes in a green bottle with a built in handle, and a silver child proof cap that you must squeeze on each side as you turn to get it open. I can see why there is a child proof cap, because the color of the detergent reminds me of toothpaste, but the consistency is a little looser, but a young child could easily mistake this for toothpaste and ingest it. So, be sure to keep this out of reach of children, because it is an eye and skin irritant. Should contact with skin or eyes occur, rinse with water. If swallowed, drink a glass full of water and then seek medical attention.
This formula averages no more than 5% phosphorus in the form of phosphates, which is equal to 1.0 grams per tablespoon. Ingredients include phosphate salts and enzymes.
The bottle has a large dispensing hole where the detergent comes out, and you squeeze the sides of the bottle to make it come out. I filled the detergent dispenser cup of my dishwasher, but for best results, Cascade says you should fill both the pre wash and main wash cups completely.
First, I used the Electrasol for a couple of days and I was not impressed overall, so even though I had planned on using the majority of the bottle before switching to the Cascade, I was having to re-wash so many dishes, that I just got fed up and started using the Cascade.
The Cascade has a fresh smell to it, but there is no smell lingering after washing the dishes with it.
After using this for a few days, I am happy to report my findings. One particular load I had a pot that had some spaghetti sauce on it- and spaghetti and tomato based stuff isnt that easy to get off sometimes, especially on plastic items. Sometimes even if the stain does come off plastic, I can still smell the sauce. Anyway, I had a pot and some plastic containers that had spaghetti sauce in them, and they came out nice and clean, and there were no blown bits and food residue all over my glassware like I experienced with the Electrasol. Also with the Cascade, I found that the dishes got clean the first time. With the Electrasol I tried, I had some peanut butter residue left on a plastic bowl that I washed, and I had to wash it again.
Another nice occurrence with the Cascade was when I accidentally scalded some tomato soup on the bottom of a pot. I really wondered if it was going to come off, but Cascade made it sparkling clean again. My experience with this is that it leaves no food residue, or film on anything. Glassware and silverware are left sparkling clean as well.
I really have no complaints about the Cascade- it did everything wonderfully and I would recommend it to anyone.
