Thanks Tom. Sadly, I think the product aspect holds true with other popular collectibles, too, such as Beanie Babies. Companies seem to find a niche for collectors, then glut the market with product. I'm not sure what will make card companies understand that their tactics have driven away more collectors than they've attracted.

While I was never into sports card collecting I have collected other things in the past, as have most of your readers I am sure.


It was a bit depressing to read through your thoughts and actually feel them morph from the pleasure you draw from playing cards into the sadness (or ...?) that you seem to have for the future of this hobby/business.
